Dual Fuel Systems
Dual Fuel systems offer efficient and economical home comfort – all while reducing carbon emissions. This technology has come to the forefront as more HVAC industry leaders try to meet both government and homeowner demand for flexibility, performance, and sustainability. Recently, Johnson Controls-Hitachi Air Conditioning introduced the Hitachi air365 Hybrid dual fuel system (https://on.jci.com/3RIrGep), which utilizes an electric Hitachi Mini-VRF heat pump and can be paired with the YORK® YP9C 98% Modulating Gas Furnace.
At extremely low temperatures, these systems provide comfort via utilization of a furnace, while providing heating and cooling for much of the year through electric heat pump operation. That means homeowners stay comfortable while limiting carbon emissions and heating expenses year-round.
Dual fuel systems are nothing new to YORK®, having our own dual fuel system options. For more than a decade the YP9C has enabled YORK® contractors to install dual fuel comfort systems in homes, pairing the YP9C with energy-efficient YORK® heat pumps.
